Webcomic Archival: |

Webcomic Archival From time to time I try what I can to back up webcomics that I used to read. Every so often, one of these old sites goes offline and I just have to hope I can find an old mirror of the archive. Most webcomic archive sites are inactive themselves and more generic search terms just land me in the category of "comics from before the web, just uploaded and archived here". Sometimes the author wants to move on or very deliberatly deletes their old work. While I can't judge on why they do it, I can only lament the loss. I haven;t found many other people in my circle. Granted, I don't search for webcomic archives that much anymore, the results keeps being the same 3 old sites or unrelated. I can't simply host all the archived works I have here or anywhere honestly. I'm not looking to undermine authors or redistribute work they don't want out there anymore. Some of my archives are comics that have stopped updating, but are still online. Webcomics were a big part of my youth online. I was into Spiderman comics for a bit and JRPG's. I found both online early on in the form of sprite comics and just general superpower/fantasy comic. I started to also get into the "Gamer" subgenre of webcomics and furry kinda stuff. I didn't mind, I grew up with 90's TV. Over the years I saw some of the authors either leave for better things, or nothing at all. I saw them rise up and start working on shows, later making their own! |

Seeing the artists I used to follow be allowed to make their own projects and express themslves in the hostile industry is amazing. |
